  • Requirements: Master's Degree in Special Education or a related degree plus at least five years related work experience is required. Experience working in higher education is preferred. Knowledge of disability accommodation practices and laws in higher education, sensitivity to the needs of the students with disabilities with a service orientation, while maintaining strict confidentiality is also required. Knowledge of standard educational assessments, psychological assessments and diagnostic methods is expected. Experience with Microsoft Office apps and Google Suite and assistive technology is required. Occasional travel, occasional evening and weekend hours will also be required. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of laws and policies related to disability and reasonable accommodations in postsecondary settings and the ability to collaborate with the students, families, faculty, staff, and mental/medical health providers in consideration for the best interests of both individual students and the University. Current or prior supervisory experience, strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills will be important for this role. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated knowledge of inclusive practices and ability to work with diverse populations. Candidates must be willing to support the Catholic Dominican mission of the University.
  • Description: Caldwell University invites applications for an exempt, full-time, Director of the SOAR program. The Director of the SOAR program will administer all aspects of this learning differences program including but not limited; to serving as an academic facilitator, staffing, scheduling, recruiting, training, providing summer activities, and developing programs. Job duties include, but are not limited to; Serving as an advocate for the students in the program. Meeting one on one as scheduled with each assigned student. Reviewing coaching plans developed for each student. Performing administrative responsibilities to support this learning differences program to include; maintaining the program budget, writing and preparing reports as needed, maintaining SOAR physical space, hardware and necessary software in the SOAR room. Developing materials and publications for the program. Answering inquiries from prospective students, parents, educators. Reviewing and screening all applicants; accepting students into the program. Coordinating registration activities for the students in the program. Recruiting, training, and supervising academic facilitators and peer mentors.Regularly meeting with the facilitator team. Reviewing weekly progress documentation submitted by facilitators. Developing, reviewing, and revising written policies and guidelines for determining the enhanced levels of accommodation for SOAR participants. Designing and delivering workshops for students, parents, and other stakeholders. Designing and conducting parent orientation, activities and/or workshops. Maintaining student records that document the student's individualized academic plan, approved accommodations, progress reports, and communication with students and parents. Working with a small group of students as an academic facilitator. Collaborating with the Director of Accessibility Services and the Associate Dean of Academic Support. Coordinating activities for the program with the Office of Career Development and other departments as appropriate. Communicating with parents regularly. Arranging social activities for students in the program. Preparing and running a summer program for SOAR students.
