Membership/Join

Benefits of Joining the Association of Learning Consultants

Every professional should have an organization for information, advocacy, professional development, benefits and networking. You have ALC, which offers all these things and more. Members shall be entitled to privileges set forth in Article IV of the NJALC Constitution & By-Laws.

Information and Resources

  • ALC publishes a bimonthly newsletter.
  • ALC’s web site keeps you current. ALC’s blast email system sends you notices quickly and efficiently, so you always know what's going on in the educational field.

Advocacy and Support

  • ALC monitors legislation that can affect the educational system in general and the LDTC’s field in particular.
  • ALC partners with School Social Workers, School Psychologists, and Speech Therapist in COCST to share information and unite in our common interests as members of Child Study Teams.

Professional Development

  • ALC hosts 2 Annual conferences.
  • ALC’s 6 regions host workshops throughout the year.

Members-Only Benefits

  • Preferential rates for workshops and conferences.
  • ALC offers registry for LDTC’s in public & private practice.

Networking

  • ALC gives LDTC’s the opportunity to network with up to 600 other professionals.

Classes of Membership and Qualifications

Those persons shall be eligible for membership in the ALC who, at the time of application:

Classes of Membership 0

Full Members

Hold standard certification as a Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant as established by the New Jersey State Department of Education;

Student Members

Hold emergency certification as a LDTC’s as established by the New Jersey State Department of Education or are matriculated in approved LDTC’s training programs;

Retired Members

Hold an LDTC’s certificate in the State of New Jersey and are retired;

NCED Affiliate Members

Are out-of-state NCED holders without a NJ LDTC’s certificate.

Dues:

The NJALC membership year is from July 1st to June 30th. Each member must renew his or her membership after July 1st each year.

  • Dues are $75.00 per year for full members
  • Dues are $40.00 per year for retired members, student members and out-of-state NCED Affiliate members.
  • If you want a paper copy of the newsletters, an additional $5.00 will be required to cover postage ($80/$45)

Mail application and dues check to Membership Services Committee designee
(Name/address on membership form)

For Full Membership/Retiree Membership, submit:

  • Completed membership application.
  • Check payable to the NJALC for the appropriate dues. No vouchers or purchase orders.
  • Required for New Members only: Copy of your NJ LDTC’s certificate.

For Student Membership, submit:

  • Completed membership application.
  • Check payable to the ALC for appropriate dues. No vouchers or purchase orders.
  • Letter signed by university advisor confirming enrollment in an approved LDTC’s program (or advisor’s signature on Student Status section of application).

For out-of-state NCED Affiliate Membership, submit:

  • Completed membership application.
  • Copy of your educational diagnostician certificate issued by your state.
  • Check payable to the NJALC for appropriate dues. No vouchers or purchase orders.
